We are looking forward to our next ncat Board meeting next Tuesday 8th July in Manchester where we will also meet with three Transport for Greater Manchester colleagues.

Joining us will be Vernon Everitt, the Transport Commissioner for Greater Manchester and Dame Sarah Storey who is the Active Travel Commissioner for Greater Manchester. Councillor Tracey Rawlins who is the Disability Advocate for the Bee Network, which is Greater Manchester’s joined up transport network, is also meeting with us.

The Bee Network’s signature new yellow buses have double spaces for wheelchairs, more room for assistance dogs, use audio description as well as having visual screens. On their site you can buy tickets, find details of live departures, see travel alerts, use journey planners and also read accessibility guides to the network.

Two DPO representatives from the Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People and Breakthrough UK, Helen Clark and Jane Bevan, will also be joining us. Together they manage Transport for Greater Manchester’s Disability Design Reference Group along with the Greater Manchester Disabled People’s Panel which contribute guidance and insights from their experiences using the local transport system.
